Several readers noted that Nikon USA has lowered prices across its digital SLR line. Effective March 28, 2003, the anticipated street prices in the US on Nikon's D100, D1X and D1H fell to:
- Nikon D100 Set, including a battery, charger, cables and basic software: US$1700. This moves the selling price of Nikon's midrange digital SLR to within about US$200 of the going rate for its primary competitor, Canon's recently-released EOS 10D.
- Nikon D1H Set, including a battery, charger, cables and basic software: US$3200. The instant rebate program on this camera has now ended.
- Nikon D1X Set, including a battery, charger, cables and basic software: US$3900. The instant rebate program on this camera has now ended.
For the actual price you might pay for a Nikon digital SLR, be sure to contact your favourite pro photography dealer.
