| Nikon USA posts Capture, View and Scan updates |

Jordan Miller notes that Nikon USA this week has posted updates to three of its digital imaging applications:
- Nikon Capture 3.5 upgrader for Mac and Windows. Updates Nikon Capture 3.0 to v3.5: a list of the improvements in Capture 3.5 are detailed here. Nikon has prepared a manual addendum that describes how to use Capture 3.5's new features.
- Nikon View 5.1.4 updater for Mac and Windows. The best part of Nikon View 5.1.4 is not the browser itself, but the new Nikon NEF Photoshop file format plug-in that accompanies it. That's because Nikon has added the ability to process D1X RAW NEF files into Photoshop at the equivalent of 10.5 megapixels (MP) of resolution. In other words, one of the key new features of Capture 3.5 is also available, for D1X shooters who don't own Capture, in the free Nikon NEF plug-in. The View 5.1.4 updater is rolled into the Capture 3.5 upgrader download, but appears to be installable separately once downloaded.
- Nikon Scan 3.1.4 for Mac OS X. This most significant new feature is support for Mac OS X 10.2 in the software for the Coolscan IV, Super Coolscan 4000 ED and Super Coolscan 8000 ED film scanners. A complete list of changes and restrictions can be found here. The download is the complete 3.1.4 release, not an updater.
