| Canon releases 1D firmware |

Canon recently released firmware v1.3 for the EOS-1D. The firmware revision further reduces, relative to v1.2, the appearance of light/dark image striations, often referred to as banding. The firmware update, titled Noise Reduction for EOS-1D Images Captured at High ISO Speed Settings (2nd Edition), is designed to minimize this type of noise at all ISO settings, not just above ISO 800 as the web page implies. Have your camera's serial number handy; you'll need to enter it prior to downloading the new firmware.
