Nikon service centres in Europe will, upon request, install a firmware update into any D1X cameras already in the hands of photographers, to ensure that the latest revision of 512MB and 1GB Microdrives will be compatible with Nikon's newest digital SLR.
A Nikon-Euro web page provides the following information:
In order to ensure D1X will be able to use all MicroDrives, cameras can be modified on reqeust at your National Nikon Service Centre. by a firmware update to version 1.01.
In the meantime, there are no compatibility issues with any other CF Memory cards and the cameras can be used with continuing confidence regardless of the firmware version.
