In a Reuters story, a Nikon spokesman says that the Japanese manufacturer is currently experiencing strong digital camera sales. Despite this, their stock took a 7.5% tumble on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Tuesday after the company's announcement of a reduction in the sales forecast for stepper units in the 2001/2002 fiscal year. In the 2000/2001 fiscal year, the company expects a record operating profit, in yen, of the equivalent of nearly US$500 million .
