Heimo Aga notes that Nikon has released information on three new film scanners coming later this year:
Coolscan IV ED (LS-40 ED) - A 12-bits per channel 35mm and APS film scanner with a maximum resolution of 2900 dpi. This scanner connects to the USB port of Mac or PC. The Nikon Germany web site indicates it is expected to ship in late March at a price of DM1899 (approx. US$915).
Super Coolscan 4000 ED (LS-4000 ED) - A 14-bits per channel 35mm and APS film scanner with a maximum resolution of 4000 dpi. This scanner connects to the FireWire (IEEE 1394) port of Mac or PC. The Nikon Germany web site indicates it is expected to ship in late March at a price of DM3799 (approx. US$1825).
Super Coolscan 8000 ED - A 14-bits per channel multiformat scanner with a maximum resolution of 4000 dpi. This scanner connects to the FireWire (IEEE 1394) port of Mac or PC. The Nikon Germany web site indicates it is expected to ship in June at a price of DM7999 (approx. US$3845).
