Bob Deutsch was one of several readers that noted a bug in Adaptec Toast 4.1.2 for Mac that prevents camera cards from mounting on the desktop of G3/400 and G3/500 Powerbooks with built-in FireWire. Disabling or removing the Toast CD Reader extension solves the problem. A thread in the MacFixit forums describes this and other user hiccups with Toast 4.1.2.
