Adobe updates Altivec plug-ins

Adobe this week released new Altivec plug-ins to improve Photoshop 5.5 performance on Macs with single or multiple G4 processors. Changes include:
  • Resolves problems using Photoshop 5.5 with Mac OS 8.6 or 9.0 on a multiprocessor system, including the new G4 multiprocessor Macs introduced this week

  • Resolves potential problems with color conversions

  • Resolves problems using the Distort filters on RGB or LAB images

  • Resolves potential problems using the Median and Lighting Effects filters on small selections

  • Improves the speed of many operations

The plug-ins are a free download from Adobe's website.
