| Qimage Pro 7.44 for Windows adds D1 image filter |

The US$30 image viewing/printing application Qimage Pro 7.4.4 for Windows now includes what appears to be an effective filter for both high-ISO D1 banding and the luminance noise pattern that tends to accompany it, especially in images sharpened in the camera. Sample images demonstrate the filter's effect. A demo version is available, which apparently will function, slowly, from within Virtual PC on a Mac. Author Michael Chaney notes that the filter is designed to work on files up to 1600; he is working on a separate filter that will tackle the noise problems inherent to ISO 3200 and ISO 6400 files.
