| LensRentals.com: Canon opts for low-tech but effective solution to EOS 5D Mark III metering error |

Photo gear rental outfit LensRentals.com has taken apart an EOS 5D Mark III that incorporates Canon's fix for the widely-reported metering error problem that has affected some early production bodies. What they discovered was a decidedly simple but apparently effective solution: a newly-added strip of black tape prevents stray light from exiting the underside of the top LCD and skewing the metering in dark environments.
In a blog post, Roger Cicala of LensRentals.com declares the fix a success: "I did power the camera up with the shell off in a dark room. There is no more leak."
