Image Sensors World has
a fun post highlighting a paper (in English) by German image sensor scientist Joachim Linkemann of Basler AG (a maker of industrial and medical cameras) in which Dr. Linkemann illustrates the concepts of signal-to-noise ratio, dynamic range, and other pixel basics using a glass of beer.
The whole paper is available as
a PDF here, and though it includes discussions of other sensor qualities those, sadly, are illustrated with graphs, not beer.
