Wired.com has published a short profile of  The Dubois County Herald, a family-run newspaper in Indiana with a notable history of feature photography. The paper took third place in the Editing Portfolio category of this year's Pictures of the Year International competition.

The Herald's emphasis on photography began as a tactic to give the Saturday paper staying power over two days (the paper doesn't publish on Sundays) and grew into a tradition of remarkable documentary photography, editing, and presentation, Wired says. The paper has also resisted moving more heavily into multimedia, preferring to continue with its tradition of still documentary picture stories.
