| Nikon releases firmware updates for J1, V1 cameras |
| Tuesday, December 13, 2011 | by Rob Galbraith |
 |
Firmware v1.10 for the Nikon 1 J1 and V1 incorporates support for Mount Adapter FT1 and adds a pixel mapping feature.
Follow a link below for more information and to download:
Nikon has also posted instructions for running the new pixel mapping function, as well as detailed information on the capabilities and limitations of Mount Adapter FT1
(including the fact that the only autofocus mode that can be used is
static-subject AF-S; autofocus tracking of a moving subject won't be
possible) and the Nikkor lenses that are expected to be compatible with it.
Note that the firmware update does not appear to change the J1/V1's automatic switching away from shooting mode immediately after one or more pictures are captured. We're as keen as ever to see this behavioral demon excised from the Nikon 1 system. More on this is in our November 6, 2011 review.
