FoxNews.com is reporting that Hewlett-Packard has been shopping around its much-praised but recently mothballed mobile operating system, WebOS, and that one of the interested potential buyers is Nikon. Fox says its source for this information is unnamed members of HP's WebOS team.
WebOS, which HP acquired when it bought Palm, is a competitor to Apple's iOS and Google's Android operating system; it powers some Palm smartphones and HP's TouchPad tablets. HP abruptly killed its TouchPad line earlier this year, and the future of WebOS has been in limbo since.
Besides Nikon, other potential buyers of WebOS include HTC, LG, and Amazon, according to the Fox story.
