Nikon Inc.'s corporate web site in Japan has issued an unusual two-sentence comment on what it says are recent media reports. The Nikon comment, in its entirety, reads:
Nikon understands that some article appeared in the media regarding Nikon's imaging product. Please note that Nikon has made no announcement in this regards.
This may be a reference to a recent Bloomberg News article, which we noted here, about the rising market share of mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras in Japan. In that article, Bloomberg reporters Mariko Yasu and Takashi Amano wrote:
Nikon has completed development of a next-generation camera and is considering when it will reveal the product, said Sayaka Suzuki, a Tokyo-based spokeswoman. She declined to say whether the company will introduce a mirrorless model.
