The Guardian has published an article detailing several incidents where photojournalists covering the London riots have been seriously beaten and had their equipment stolen or destroyed. 

According to some of the photographers and videographers interviewed, journalists are specifically being singled out by rioters. Some photojournalists are reportedly trying to work with point-and-shoot still cameras and amateur video cameras to avoid being recognized as professional photographers.
