The British Journal of Photography has published an article about the recent history of the stock photography industry by Betsy Reid, former Executive Director of the Stock Artists Alliance. 

The article traces the trajectory of stock photography from the 1980s through the present, giving Reid's view on the rise and fall of stock photography as a viable business for professional photographers. 

The Stock Artists Alliance is a trade organization created to advocate on behalf of professional stock photographers; it will shut down at the end of this year in the face of what Reid says is the lack of professional photographers still pursuing the stock imagery market.
