The Guardian has published an article comprising a collection of stories and accompanying images from war photographers recounting instances where getting the shot in question almost cost them their lives. 

 

Photographers interviewed include Lynsey Addario, Joao Silva, Gary Knight, and Tom Stoddart, among others, and the conflicts they covered range from Congo to Chechnya.
