Digital Outback Photo has published a very positive
early look at the new Warp Stabilizer feature in the high-end video special effects software Adobe After Effects CS5.5. Warp Stabilizer is essentially an image stabilization tool that also corrects for rolling shutter artifacts in video footage shot with CMOS sensors such as those in DSLR cameras.
DOP had basically given up on the idea of quality post-processing software-based video image stabilization but says that, after trying Warp Stabilizer, it's "hard to describe how excited we are". They've also posted a short
demonstration video that shows Warp Stabilizer used on handheld video footage. Several commenters on the video, including well-known DSLR video guru Philip Bloom, also give the feature high praise.
