| Reuters: Canon working on small SLR-style digital camera |

A Reuters story says that Canon is developing an SLR-style digital camera that is smaller than existing offerings and is meant to compete with mirrorless models from Sony, Olympus and Panasonic. In the July 20, 2010 article, Masaya Maeda, head of Image Communication Products at Canon in Japan, wouldn't say if the camera would also be mirrorless, only that "[t]here is a consumer need for good-quality cameras to be made smaller" and that his company "will meet that need."
Earlier this month, Nikon President Makoto Kimura told Bloomberg that a new SLR-style camera is in the works that will likely be mirrorless and include "an enhanced function for video recording."
