| Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 now shipping |
| Monday, June 7, 2010 | by Rob Galbraith |
 |
Adobe has begun shipping Photoshop Lightroom 3, the next major release
of its pro photo management and RAW conversion application for Mac and
Windows. Available now for US$299, or US$99 for licensed users of
Lightroom 1.x or 2.x, the new version adds tethered capture, an improved
import process that includes support for video files, custom
watermarks, flexible print package layouts, additional slide show
features, generally faster operation and the same RAW conversion engine
and features as found in Photoshop CS5's Camera Raw 6.1.

Photoshop
Lightroom 3 can be purchased direct from Adobe as well as at
retailers that carry it. The current public beta of
Photoshop Lightroom 3, beta 2, will expire June 30, 2010.
A 30
day trial version is available. Ian Lyons has published a good overview of what's new in Lightroom 3. A list of cameras recognized by the program's tethering function is here.
Thanks to Steve Puppe for his help with this story.
