Zoom has announced its smallest field audio recorder to date, the H1.
It features an x/y mic arrangement similar to the larger H4N, a single 3.5mm input jack for an external mic, up to 24-bit/96 kHz WAV or 320kbps MP3 recording to microSD card, a built-in speaker plus 3.5mm line out/headphone jack and what appears to be a smart control arrangement.
The Zoom H1 is to land in stores towards the end of July at an expected street price of about US$99 in the U.S. It should be a great complement to a digital SLR capturing video on location.
