ControlTL for Nikon to be Available in the Fall
June 5, 2009
South Burlington, VT - With efforts concentrated on improving performance of the ControlTL system for Canon cameras and flash and providing users with requested features, development of the ControlTL system for Nikon has been delayed until sometime this fall.
Canon interoperability was a challenge due especially to the addition of the highly popular Canon 5D Mark II. Improving range performance with Canon flashes has also kept engineers from shifting to Nikon development. According to Jim Clark, LPA Design’s Founder and Director of Development, “We found a lot of differences between cameras that required firmware development specific to each one. That issue combined with finding ways to shield the system from RF interference from Canon flashes, we could not shift to Nikon as early as planned.” Clark added, “We also found ways to significantly improve system performance, such as the HSS optimization, which we simply had to do once it was discovered.”
Nikon development is underway and many of the major development challenges have been cleared but there is still a lot of work to be done before the product will be ready for delivery. A hard delivery date is not yet possible to predict but it is anticipated to be early fall. Updates will be posted when available.
