| When the invitation comes to join one of the major players in digital imaging on a junket to a land far away, we don't hesitate too long in replying. We've been on a few such trips now, and they're always a good mix of learning and fun. They don't usually take us as far afield as Tokyo, however, which is where we've recently returned after several days at Canon's Shimomaruko-area headquarters as well as the company's Toride factory. Here's our trip notebook. |

| Camera Raw 4.1 for Photoshop CS3 announced, soon to be released |
| Adobe has issued a press release saying that Camera Raw 4.1, an updated version of the RAW file support plug-in for Photoshop CS3 for Windows and Mac, is now available, though the announcement appears to have come ahead of the actual posting of the software on Adobe servers. The new version incorporates additional controls on the sharpening and noise reduction tab, plus it adds support for RAW files from the Canon EOS-1D Mark III, Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro, Nikon D40X, various Phase One backs and more. UPDATE, MAY 29, 2007: A message from Adobe's PR agency today notes "there has been a slight delay posting the Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 4.1 update to Adobe.com. This problem will be resolved by the end of the week." |
