Delkin PRO CompactFlash challenges Lexar
It looks like Lexar Media has some new competition. Delkin Device's PRO series Compactflash cards, introduced today, are the first flash memory-based CompactFlash cards to either beat the longtime speed leader's 24X-rated cards in certain digital SLR cameras, or trail by a relatively small margin.

Dazzle Zio USB 2.0 Hi-Speed CompactFlash card reader to ship mid-November
SCM Microsystems is poised to begin shipping a USB 2.0 version of their popular Zio CompactFlash card reader. Called the Dazzle Zio USB 2.0 Hi-Speed, it's expected to offer card-to-computer transfers that are as quick as the company's speedy Microtech FireWire CameraMate (SCM Microsystems sells products under the Microtech and Dazzle brand names).

Canon EOS-1Ds delivers detail, and lots of it
Summing up EOS-1Ds image quality is difficult. On the one hand, the camera delivers crisp, detailed photos which are effectively noise-free at ISO 100, and surprisingly clean at ISO 1250. On the other hand, certain 16-35mm photos contain heaps of chromatic aberration, while portrait colour can be too vivid and contrasty.
