Extensis has released Portfolio, Portfolio Server , Portfolio Server and SQL Connect and Portfolio NetPublish as Universal Binaries that will run natively on both Intel- and PowerPC-based Macs. Version 8.1 of each Portfolio variant is available for download as a free update to v8.0.

CF/SD Performance Database updated
In addition to a major revamp of the Card-to-Computer section of the CF/SD Performance Database, we've also added or updated results for eleven different Canon and Nikon digital SLR cameras. New CompactFlash and Secure Digital (SD) cards from Hoodman, Lexar, Ridata, SanDisk (including Extreme IV), Transcend and others now bring to 70 the total number of cards being actively tested.

GretagMacbeth Eye-One Match 3.6.1 posted
GretagMacbeth has released an update to its Eye-One Match colour management software for Mac and Windows. V3.6.1 is the first version to officially support Macs with Intel processors inside (though the application is not yet a Universal Binary), while the Windows release includes x64 drivers for the Eye-One iO.

Nikon posts teaser for new 10.2-megapixel DSLR
The Nikon Imaging Global web site has posted a teaser for what it says will be a new 10.2-megapixel digital SLR "addition to the lineup" that will be announced in 20 days. Based on one phrase in the teaser -- "integrating quality and affordability to meet the demands of passionate photo enthusiasts" -- it seems like a reasonable guess that the camera will fall somewhere below the D200 in Nikon's lineup.

SanDisk poised to unveil Extreme IV CompactFlash and Extreme Readers
Later today, SanDisk will unveil a new CompactFlash series capable of card-to-computer transfer rates that are well over twice as fast as the quickest cards currently available. Dubbed Extreme IV and slated for release in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities, the new line also puts SanDisk back at or near the top of the leaderboard in digital SLR write speed. But the solid in-camera performance of Extreme IV is really the sidebar; the main story is how SanDisk's new flagship memory card line can dramatically reduce the time it takes to copy photos to the computer for editing. How fast is Extreme IV? A whopping 38.6MB/second in our testing.

Noise Ninja standalone and plug-in updated
PictureCode has posted updates to Noise Ninja that bring the standalone edition to version 2.1.1 and the Photoshop plug-in edition to version 2.1.3. The standalone version now runs natively on Linux x86 and Intel-based Macs (it is also available for Windows.) Other changes, common to both editions, are bug fixes and support for reading ISO information from some recent Canon point-and-shoot cameras.

Hasselblad posts release version of FlexColor 4.6 for Mac
Hasselblad has posted the official version of FlexColor 4.6 for Mac. The latest release of the software for Hasselblad/Imacon digital backs and scanners, as well as the included R166 firmware for newer backs that accept CompactFlash cards, makes a number of changes to the file format, colour and noise processing of Hasselblad/Imacon image files. The Windows version of 4.6 is still at the public beta stage.

Canon updates EOS 5D, EOS-1D Mark II N firmware to v1.1.0
Canon's BeBit website has posted firmware v1.1.0 for the EOS 5D and the EOS-1D Mark II N. The update for the EOS 5D includes bux fixes and enhanced support for direct printing with two upcoming Canon Pixma printers. The update for the EOS-1D Mark II N includes only the direct printing enhancements.

Nikon posts notice of lack of D2Xs NEF support
The Nikon Europe tech support website has posted a sort of combination apology/explanation stating that NEF (RAW) files from the D2Xs, which is just becoming available, are not supported by any Nikon software except PictureProject. Nikon Capture 4.4 does not support NEF files from the D2Xs and apparently will not be updated to do so. That program's replacement, Capture NX, will support D2Xs NEF files, but the release of NX continues to be delayed.
