Canon USA to commence EOS-1D Mark III sub-mirror fix program on December 3
On December 3, Canon USA will begin accepting EOS-1D Mark IIIs that are eligible for the sub-mirror fix, the company has announced. Canon will cover the cost of receiving the camera and returning it after the repair is complete, plus the cost of the repair itself. They have also established a dedicated facility separate from their existing factory service centres and will be performing sub-mirror repairs there for the foreseeable future. *UPDATED*

Canon releases firmware v1.1.3 for EOS-1D Mark III
Canon has released firmware v1.1.3 for the EOS-1D Mark III. The new version of firmware includes two autofocus-related changes designed to improve the camera's AI Servo focus accuracy, speeds up writing to SD cards and fixes several bugs.

Canon USA shipping EOS-1Ds Mark III to retailers this week
Canon USA is shipping the EOS-1Ds Mark III in the U.S. beginning this week. The first units of the 21.03 million image pixel digital SLR are expected to land on dealer loading docks in the next few days, says Chuck Westfall, Director of Media and Customer Relationship at Canon USA.

Canon releases firmware v1.0.5 for EOS 40D
Canon today has released firmware v1.0.5 for the EOS 40D. The new firmware is meant to correct an incompatibility between Adobe's Camera Raw 4.2, Lightroom 1.2 and CR2 files shot with v1.0.4 installed in the camera. It also addresses a file numbering error, changes photo playback behaviour during remote shooting and addresses several minor bugs.

Adobe releases Camera Raw 4.3, Lightroom 1.3
Adobe has released Camera Raw 4.3, an update to its RAW conversion plug-in for Photoshop CS3 that adds support for the RAW files from the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, Nikon D300, Nikon D3, Olympus E-3 and more. This update also makes official the plug-in's support for RAW files from the Canon PowerShot G9, and should also restore compatibility with Canon EOS 40D full-resolution CR2s shot with firmware v1.0.4 installed. The same changes are in Lightroom 1.3, which is also out today.
